Nonprofit
The Ulmer Nonprofit Industry Group knows that operating a nonprofit organization is not simply about fulfilling the mission; it is most often about how the mission is executed. Delivering on mission requires effectively managing bottom line financial issues, carefully balancing the needs of the staff, board, donors, volunteers, and clients, building capacity and positioning the entity for sustainable growth.
We understand the many challenges of nonprofit organizations: competition for donors and funding; adherence to rules governing tax-exempt entities; corporate governance; compliance with donor restricted gifts; tracking and measuring performance outcomes; expanding facilities for improved and impactful service delivery; employee relations, among others. Leaders in the nonprofit sector are thoughtfully and strategically achieving mission-focused objectives. Members in our Nonprofit Industry Group have served as board members, volunteers and donors and those meaningful personal experiences complement the technical legal skills we bring to clients as they manage the business and execute on mission.
We represent more than 100 nonprofits throughout Ohio, including social service agencies, educational institutions, arts groups, behavioral health organizations, governmental entities, community development corporations, religious institutions, foundations, and other charitable exempt entities. Nonprofit Industry Group team members handle the full spectrum of business and litigation matters for clients, including labor and employment, strategic combinations, affiliations and mergers, tax-exempt and tax credit financings, real estate acquisition, development and construction, intellectual property and technology.
The work of the Nonprofit Industry Group means so much more than just skilled legal practice. It provides a way for us to make a difference in the community through the incredible and transformative work of our nonprofit clients.
