Ulmer & Berne LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Robert Mitchell as partner in its Cincinnati office. Mitchell brings decades of experience managing complex toxic tort and product liability litigation matters to Ulmer’s nationally respected product liability group.
Mitchell’s practice focuses on product liability defense. He has decades of experience serving as lead counsel in complex toxic tort litigation throughout the country. Mitchell participated in over 20 jury trials throughout his career, which equips him with a keen understanding of how to avoid trial where possible and successfully confront it when necessary. He also has significant experience handling insurance coverage litigation on behalf of policyholders. Throughout his career, Mitchell has recovered over $2 billion in policy proceeds for policyholders in insurance coverage litigation.
Before entering private practice, Mitchell supervised a high volume of asbestos and other toxic tort lawsuits as in-house counsel for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Morton International, Inc. and Owens Corning Corporation. He also negotiated and settled insurance coverage issues concerning a variety of environmental and chemical exposure claims, as well as providing proactive counsel to business groups concerning a wide variety of topics such as occupational safety, product safety and warranty, antitrust, commercial and regulatory issues. Mitchell earned his B.A. from Denison University and his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. He has achieved an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest for practicing attorneys.
“We are always looking to add depth and expand our capabilities for our clients,” said Jeff Peck, Chair of Ulmer’s product liability practice. “Bob is an excellent attorney with an impeccable track record managing product liability and toxic tort matters for major companies, and we are excited to add his experience to our team.”
