Ulmer Receives Diversity Team Award from Profiles in Diversity Journal

June 30, 2020 – Ulmer & Berne LLP is proud to announce that the firm has been awarded Profiles in Diversity Journal’s first annual Diversity Team Award, which recognizes talented and dedicated team members who work to support and advance diversity and inclusion within their organizations.

“We’re delighted to acknowledge the successes and contributions of the 18 companies that have been awarded this new recognition,” said James R. Rector, Publisher of Profiles in Diversity Journal. “Recognizing the achievements of diversity teams with this award is another important step in the evolution of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and an essential part of a global strategy to innovate, educate, and build a more connected world.”

In receiving this award, Ulmer’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, led by Chair Inajo Davis Chappell and Chief Diversity Officer Timothy J. Downing, is honored for its teamwork, its contributions to the firm, and the way its members work to advance the mission of diversity and inclusion every day.

As the driving force behind the firm’s successful diversity and inclusion initiatives, the Committee includes more than 30 active members who guide the firm in recruiting, retaining, and advancing women and minority lawyers and supporting charities, events, and sponsorships that serve as a platform for diverse people and ideas.

“We are incredibly proud of the strides our committee has made in promoting diversity and inclusion,” said Chappell. “We are truly honored for our team to be recognized in this way because we know Ulmer’s biggest strength is our people, including the important members of our committee, who work together to impact our firm and the world in a positive way.”

The Committee has played a significant role in building Ulmer’s diverse and inclusive workplace and transforming the firm’s commitment to diversity and inclusion into action. By working to ensure diversity and inclusion are tangible, measurable components of daily life at Ulmer, the Committee has helped to create a firm culture where differences are celebrated, all perspectives are embraced, and issues are seen from every angle.

Now in its 22nd year of publication, Profiles in Diversity Journal highlights the individuals and teams within organizations who create, develop, and promote strategies and initiatives that support diversity, inclusion, and equity in the community.
