Ulmer Partner Patricia A. Shlonsky to Receive YWCA Greater Cleveland’s 2020 Women of Achievement Award

June 26, 2020 – Ulmer & Berne LLP is proud to announce that Cleveland Partner-in-Charge Patricia A. Shlonsky will be honored today with the 2020 YWCA Women of Achievement Award as one of six women who have made an impact on every aspect of the city of Cleveland.

“This year’s Women of Achievement Honorees are true pillars of the Cleveland community,” said Margaret Mitchell, YWCA Greater Cleveland President and CEO. “Each one of them is a trailblazer who has modeled a more inclusive and equitable vision for our city’s future. All of these women have thrived in adversity and it is my honor to recognize them as YWCA Women of Achievement.”

As the first woman to serve as Cleveland Partner-in-Charge in Ulmer’s more than 110-year history, Shlonsky guides the development, client service, business, and operations efforts of the firm’s Cleveland office while managing her demanding practice as a nationally recognized employee benefits attorney. She was the first woman to serve on the firm’s Management Committee and continues to serve in this capacity as one of seven partners with responsibility for managing all aspects of the firm’s operations.

“Having served with Patty in the management of Ulmer for 20 years, I’ve had a front row seat to her incredible leadership,” said Scott P. Kadish, Managing Partner. “She is a key member of our Management Committee, an invaluable mentor and role model for female attorneys inside and outside of our firm, and a true leader in the Greater Cleveland community.”

Shlonsky also serves as Group Leader of Ulmer’s Employee Benefits and Tax Practice Groups. She advises clients on a wide range of employee benefits matters and has comprehensive experience handling all types of employee benefits and ERISA litigation. Consistently recognized for her legal skills, she has been ranked by Chambers USA as one of Ohio’s “Leaders in Their Field” for Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation every year since 2007, among other honors.

Her commitment to the community is seen in her extensive involvement in causes larger than herself, including her service on the Board of Trustees of the Cuyahoga County Public Library, including as its President, as a Vice President of the Board of Directors and Co-Chair of the Program Committee for The City Club of Cleveland, and as a Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for The Center for Community Solutions.

Each year, the YWCA Women of Achievement Award is presented to a select group of Northeast Ohio women who have achieved extraordinary accomplishments through career success, community service, leadership, mentoring, and dedication to YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. Shlonsky will be honored at a live, virtual celebration on June 26, 2020. For more information about the 2020 YWCA Women of Achievement Awards, please click here.
