Ulmer Partner Michael S. Tucker Elected to Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation Board of Directors

October 30, 2020 – Ulmer & Berne LLP is pleased to share that Partner Michael S. Tucker has been elected to serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation (CMBF), the charitable fundraising arm of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA).

The CMBF raises critical funds for the CMBA’s nationally recognized “Lawyers Giving Back” public outreach and pro bono legal services, including 13 life-changing programs throughout Northeast Ohio. From free legal clinics in homeless shelters, local courts, and Cleveland schools to pipeline programs that inspire students from high school to college and beyond, CMBF strives to change individual lives in a way that positively impacts the community.

Tucker focuses his practice on bankruptcy law and creditor’s rights, and is a certified specialist in business bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification. He represents debtors, creditors, and trustees in all aspects of business/commercial Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcies, and represents commercial creditors in out-of-court workouts, foreclosure actions, receiverships, and replevins. He is experienced in the representation of receivers in state court receiverships and in protecting the rights of commercial landlords in the retail industry when tenant-retailers file for bankruptcy.

In addition to his practice, Tucker previously served as Chair of the CMBA’s Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section and as Chair of the Ohio State Bar Association’s Banking, Commercial, and Bankruptcy Committee. He is a longtime member of the CMBA’s Bar Admissions Committee, conducting character and fitness interviews several times a year of candidates who have applied to sit for the Ohio Bar Exam, and also volunteers as a reading tutor to primary grade children through the 1-2-3 Read Program sponsored by the Cuyahoga County Public Library. Consistently recognized for his talent and skill, Tucker has been named to the Ohio Super Lawyers list every year since 2004 and has been named to The Best Lawyers in America© every year since 2008.
