Ulmer Partner David W. Leopold Appointed to National Platform Committee for the 2020 Democratic National Convention

June 22, 2020 – Ulmer & Berne LLP is pleased to share that David W. Leopold, Partner and Group Leader of the firm’s Immigration Law Group, has been appointed to the national Platform Committee for the 2020 Democratic National Convention by the Biden for President Campaign and confirmed by a unanimous vote of the Ohio delegation. The Platform Committee is responsible for drafting and recommending the platform of the Democratic Party to the Democratic National Convention.

Leopold is nationally recognized as a dedicated immigration attorney, passionate reform advocate, and respected writer and public speaker. With more than two decades of experience counseling diverse clients on a wide array of issues related to U.S. immigration, visa, and citizenship law, he focuses his practice on employment and family-based immigration, the representation of employers in I-9 verification and compliance matters, complex removal cases including administrative trials and appeals, and federal court litigation.

In addition to his robust immigration practice, Leopold previously served as President and General Counsel of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the premier bar association of immigration lawyers and professors in the United States. He also serves as a “go-to” analyst of cutting-edge immigration issues for national and international media outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, Newsweek, CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, and regularly handles high-profile, politically charged matters that draw national attention.

In August, the Democratic Party will formally nominate the party’s candidate for President and Vice President of the United States at the 2020 Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In addition to fulfilling their nominating duties, Democratic Party members from across the country will also work together during the convention to adopt the official 2020 Democratic Party platform.
