Ulmer Partner Amanda Martinsek Named to The American Lawyer’s List of Midwest Trailblazers

April 2, 2021 – Ulmer & Berne LLP is proud to announce that Partner Amanda Martinsek has been named to The American Lawyer’s list of Midwest Trailblazers, which celebrates legal professionals throughout the Midwest who are agents of change that have made significant marks on the practice, policy, and advancements in their sectors.

“Amanda is an outstanding attorney who has achieved excellent results for her clients in precedent-setting cases all while promoting diversity in the legal profession,” said Paul R. Harris, Group Leader of Ulmer’s Business Litigation Practice Group. “We are fortunate to have her as part of our team at Ulmer and are so proud The American Lawyer has honored her contributions to the practice of law.”

Martinsek is a nationally recognized litigator who focuses her practice on managing complex cases including class actions, shareholder derivative claims, product liability suits, and other corporate matters. Her experience encompasses a variety of disputes involving breach of contract, insurance, and securities matters. In selecting Martinsek for this honor, The American Lawyer highlighted Martinsek’s recent representation of Plain Local School District in Stark County, Ohio, in a pivotal case that successfully challenged the constitutionality of a controversial state law that allowed residents of certain Ohio communities to more easily change their assigned school district despite the risk of racial segregation and financial inequity among affected students.

Adding to her successful practice, Martinsek is dedicated to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the legal profession. She previously served as the founding president of a majority women-owned law firm, and uses her experiences to mentor young attorneys about business development and professionalism. At Ulmer, she serves as a member of the DEI Committee and UB WILL – Women in Law and Leadership, the driving force behind Ulmer’s efforts to attract, recruit, and advance women lawyers. Consistently recognized for her skill, Martinsek has been named a State Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation, to the Top 25 Women Super Lawyers in Cleveland and Top 50 Women Super Lawyers in Ohio, and designated Best Lawyers® 2019 Appellate Practice “Lawyer of the Year” in Cleveland, among other honors.
