Scheufler is a business, finance, and real estate attorney who focuses on commercial and real estate finance. In his practice, he assists lenders who have complex or unique lending problems to solve and borrowers who need financing to pursue their objectives but need a practical, solution-driven approach. This includes major financial institutions, community banks, investment funds, and borrowers and developers, in structuring and documenting loans for commercial, real estate, asset-based, and cash flow loans. Throughout his nearly 40-year career, Scheufler has handled a wide variety of financing transactions including real estate acquisitions, real estate construction loans, lines of credit, term loans, and refinancings.
Scheufler regularly counsels owners of closely-held and middle-market businesses, providing guidance and solutions on business and real estate transactions, financing, loss and risk avoidance, mergers and acquisitions, and divestitures. He is experienced with alternate real estate development funding tools such as Tax Increment Financing, Historic Tax Credits, New Market Tax Credits, Community Reinvestment Act exemptions and residential abatements, and other financing sources for real estate development and business expansion. He also works to find common sense solutions for real problems by understanding his clients’ businesses and cost/benefit concerns, including assisting clients in obtaining Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans and helping them work through business issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to his practice, Scheufler serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Growth Capital Corporation, the leading Small Business Administration 504 real estate lender in the state of Ohio that provides financial assistance to businesses to foster economic growth and job creation. Consistently recognized for his skilled approach to complex legal matters, Scheufler has been named to The Best Lawyers in America© for Banking and Finance Law every year since 2011.
