Ulmer Grows Cleveland Office With Addition of Two Associates

Ulmer & Berne LLP is pleased to announce the addition of two associates to the firm’s Cleveland office. McClellon D. Cox, III joins the Business Litigation Practice Group and Abraham Spira joins the Business Law Practice Group.

Cox focuses on general business litigation and the resolution of complex business disputes. In his practice, he drafts pleadings, assists with review and summary of discovery documents, assesses cases and prepares preliminary evaluations of client exposure and potential liability, and conducts legal research and drafts memoranda analyzing a broad range of legal issues.

He is also involved in the community, serving as a Brief Advice Clinic Volunteer for The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland and as a member of 100 Black Men of Greater Cleveland. Cox received his undergraduate degree with honors from Morehouse College, and his law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he currently serves as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Black Law Students Association Mock Trial Team.

“We’re very pleased to bring McClellon on as an associate,” said Paul R. Harris, Group Leader of Ulmer’s Business Litigation Practice Group. “McClellon served as a summer associate with us so we are well aware of his talent and drive. He makes a great addition to our team of dedicated litigators.”

Spira focuses his practice on corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financing, and general corporate matters. He assists clients with a variety of corporate transactional matters, including entity structure, contract drafting, and corporate governance. He also has experience working with skilled nursing and living facility owners and operators in the health care industry.

Spira is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association. He received his undergraduate degree from Excelsior College, his Bachelors of Talmudic Law from Ner Israel Rabbinical College, and his law degree and JD Certificate in Business Law from Washington University School of Law, where he served as Senior Editor of the Jurisprudence Review.

“Avi joins our robust team of business attorneys who work day in and day out to help our clients achieve their full potential,” said Douglas K. Sesnowitz, Co-Group Leader of Ulmer’s Business Law Practice Group. “We’re happy to have Avi as part of our thriving practice as we assist our clients with their complex business matters.”
