Ulmer & Berne LLP is pleased to announce the addition of William Yu and Sarah Miller Benoit. Yu will be based in the firm’s Chicago office, and Benoit will be based in Columbus. Both attorneys join Ulmer as counsel from Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith LLP.

Yu is a seasoned trial lawyer who focuses his practice on complex business litigation for corporate clients. He has significant experience handling complex matters through jury trial in venues throughout the Chicagoland area. Yu has defended professionals, corporations, and municipalities before numerous regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations, the Illinois Department of Human Rights, and the Chicago Commission on Human Relations. He has experience defending consumer class action claims in many jurisdictions under the FDCPA, the TCPA, state consumer fraud statutes, and the False Claims Act. Yu earned his B.A. from Oberlin College and his J.D. from the John Marshall Law School.
Benoit is a business litigator with a successful track record of representing clients in cases involving transportation, general liability, insurance defense, professional liability, catastrophic injuries, insurance matters, and premises liability. She has represented a multitude of clients ranging from trucking companies and their drivers, companies and their officers in business disputes, steel mills, architects, transportation companies, factories, and insurance companies. She has practiced in multiple jurisdictions across the U.S. Benoit earned her B.A. from The Ohio State University and her J.D. from the University of Toledo School of Law.
