Ulmer & Berne announces that partner Frances Floriano Goins was selected for inclusion in the 2015 Top 250 Women in Litigation, distributed by Benchmark Litigation, and also has been named a Fellow in The Trial Lawyer Honorary Society of The Litigation Counsel of America.
Benchmark’s Top 250 Women in Litigation honors the accomplishments of America’s leading female trial lawyers, featuring litigators from all 50 states plus the District of Columbia. Ms. Goins earned the distinction as a result of targeted research during the US Benchmark Litigation process. Analysts relied on peer reviews and overall depth of litigation experience as the most important elements of the research. This marks the second consecutive year Ms. Goins has received this designation.
Ms. Goins has also been named a Fellow in The Trial Lawyer Honorary Society of The Litigation Counsel of America, a close-knit, peer-selected, and aggressively diverse honorary society of 3,500 of the best trial lawyers in the country. Less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers are admitted to this invitation-only collegial network.
Co-Chair of the firm’s Financial Services & Securities Litigation and Data Privacy & Information Security Practice Groups, Ms. Goins is skilled in resolving complex business disputes for public and private companies, including matters involving securities, corporate governance, shareholder rights, cybersecurity, financial services, and consumer law. She has managed dozens of takeover and proxy contests involving public companies, conducted numerous internal corporate investigations, and regularly counsels businesses on compliance issues including anti-bribery, securities, data privacy, ethics, and governance best practices.
Among other accolades, Ms. Goins has been recommended as one of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2015 “Leaders in Their Field” in Ohio for General Commercial Litigation, named a “2015 State Litigation Star” in Ohio by Benchmark Litigation, and named “2013 Securities Litigation Lawyer of the Year” in Cleveland by Best Lawyers in America®. Ms. Goins earned her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and holds a bachelors and masters of music from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
