Ulmer & Berne Promotes Three to Partner, One to Counsel

December 13, 2022 – Ulmer & Berne LLP is pleased to announce the promotions of four attorneys. Product liability litigator Georgia Hatzis, environmental lawyer David A. Meyer, and immigration attorney Anastasia Tonello were each promoted to Partner. Financial services litigator Blaine F. Doyle has been promoted to Counsel.

Cleveland-based Hatzis is an experienced litigator in Ulmer’s Product Liability Practice Group, representing pharmaceutical and medical device companies in a variety of complex litigation matters across the country, as well as major corporations in multidistrict, coordinated, and consolidated proceedings, putative class actions, and “one-off” product liability suits. Hatzis also has experience in cases involving large-scale product recalls. She is consistently recognized for her talent and her commitment to providing clients with outstanding legal counsel, having been named to the Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Stars list from 2019- 2022 and the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list from 2021-2023.

Doyle is a member of the Financial Services & Securities Litigation Practice Group, based in Ulmer’s Chicago office. In his practice, he focuses on resolving complex business disputes, particularly in the financial services industry. He represents national banks, broker-dealers, and financial advisory firms in court, arbitration, and regulatory proceedings. Doyle is experienced in defending a range of financial services clients before the CME, FINRA, CFTC, SEC, NFA, and before state securities regulators. Outside of his practice, Doyle serves as Co-President of the Tulane Alumni Club of Chicago. In recognition of his talent, he has been named to the Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Stars List each year from 2017-2021.

Meyer represents businesses, property owners, and developers on real estate, construction, and other commercial contracts with environmental implications. He has significant experience counseling clients on a transactional level by assisting with the environmental, construction, insurance, finance, and related commercial aspects of real estate and corporate transactions, as well as experience litigating environmental cases and advising clients on regulatory compliance matters, environmental remediation, energy matters, and sustainability matters. Meyer is the firm’s authority and leader on environmental matters. He is a frequent speaker and presenter in his areas of expertise, and his broad range of experience allows him to engineer practical solutions that are efficient, effective, and neatly aligned with the needs of the businesses he serves. Meyer practices in Ulmer’s Cincinnati office.

Tonello is based in Ulmer’s New York office, where she practices in the firm’s Immigration Practice Group. She advises clients on the commercial and practical issues facing overseas businesses as they expand into the United States. She also has extensive experience advising a range of individuals, including entrepreneurs, high net worth individuals, entertainers, and artists, and has successfully advised on complex investor, extraordinary ability, and family-based petitions and citizenship issues. Tonello is a past President of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is a regular speaker on immigration matters at professional conferences, training events, and leading business and law schools. An internationally recognized practitioner, she has been recognized in leading legal directories including Legal 500, Chambers, Super Lawyers, Who’s Who Legal Corporate Immigration, and The Best Lawyers in America©.
