Ulmer Attorney Michael J. Charlillo Elected to Youth Opportunities Unlimited Board of Directors

November 30, 2021 – Ulmer & Berne LLP is pleased to share that Associate Michael J. Charlillo has been elected to the Board of Directors of Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.), a nonprofit workforce development organization that serves youth living in economically distressed areas in Northeast Ohio.

Charlillo will serve a three-year term on the Board beginning January 1, 2022. In this new role, he will assist the organization in its mission of preparing teens and young adults to become economically self-sufficient contributors to Northeast Ohio’s educated, skilled, and inclusive workforce.

Charlillo focuses his legal practice on securities litigation and complex business litigation. He routinely represents broker-dealers and registered representatives in arbitrations before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and in investigations and enforcement actions by FINRA, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and state securities regulators. He also regularly defends broker-dealers against defamation claims and requests for expungement brought by former registered representatives arising from information reported to FINRA. In his practice, he also frequently represents businesses in employment disputes, including in matters involving enforcement of restrictive covenants. In recognition of his legal accomplishments, Charlillo has been named to the Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.

In addition to his work with Y.O.U., Charlillo serves on the Board of Directors of Empower Sports, a Cleveland nonprofit committed to providing sport and exercise programs for children and adults with various physical and cognitive disabilities. He has also served as a Brief Advice Clinic volunteer with The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland and as a high school classroom volunteer with the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s 3Rs: Rights, Responsibilities, and Realities Program.
