Ulmer & Berne LLP added to its strong growth over the last several months by welcoming partner Andrew W. Owen. Mr. Owen brings 24 years of experience as a business litigator to Ulmer’s Columbus office.
Mr. Owen represents a wide range of clients in all aspects of complex business disputes, including business torts, surety representation, breach of contract and warranty, toxic tort and product liability defense, unfair trade practices and non-competition agreements, and defense of class action claims. Mr. Owen has significant experience representing clients in the commercial mortgage-backed securities industry, with particular emphasis on default administration for corporate trustees and master and special servicers of commercial mortgage securitized trusts. He has expertise in all aspects of workouts, foreclosures, deeds-in-lieu, bankruptcy proceedings, and receiverships involving multimillion dollar commercial properties such as hotels, office buildings, shopping centers, and apartments.
Mr. Owen received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. He is named to The Best Lawyers in America® for commercial litigation and has appeared on the Ohio Super Lawyers List. A graduate of the Leadership Columbus program (class of 2002), Mr. Owen is active in the Columbus community and previously served on the Board of Directors of the Children’s Hunger Alliance, a non-profit organization addressing childhood hunger and obesity issues in Ohio. He is a member of the Worthington Presbyterian Church and an active member of VoiceCorps, a reading service for the blind and visually impaired.
