February 16, 2021 – Ulmer & Berne LLP is pleased to announce the addition of two experienced associates to its Cleveland office. Michael J. Scheiman joins the Business Law Practice Group and Emmanuel I. Sanders joins the Product Liability Practice Group.
Scheiman is a business attorney who focuses his practice on the representation of public and private companies and private equity funds in a variety of matters, including acquisitions and divestitures, commercial financing transactions, and governance matters. He also works with clients in the health care industry including skilled nursing and assisted living facility owners and operators.
As a former certified public accountant, Scheiman’s legal and tax experience gives him unique insight into planning and implementing complex business transactions with an eye on potential tax issues. He earned his undergraduate degree from Loyola University Chicago, his Master of Accountancy with a focus in Taxation from Cleveland State University, and his J.D. with honors from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where he served as the Managing Editor of the Cleveland State Law Review.

Sanders is a product liability litigator who focuses his practice on defending product liability litigation and pharmaceutical, medical device, and mass tort claims. He represents a diverse array of clients in multidistrict, coordinated, and consolidated proceedings, as well as putative class actions. He has experience handling key aspects of complex litigation, including motion practice, written discovery, taking and defending depositions, and preparing experts for deposition.
In addition to his practice, Sanders serves on the Development Committee of Fuchs Mizrachi School and is a Board Member of the Young Leadership Division of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. He earned his undergraduate degree with honors from Yeshiva University and his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he served as the Executive Editor of the Journal of Legislation and Public Policy.
