Ulmer Labor & Employment Partner to Head Charitable Fundraising Arm of CMBA
Stephanie E. Dutchess Trudeau, Partner at Ulmer & Berne LLP, became President of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation (CMBF) at the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s (CMBA) 11th annual meeting on June 1, 2018. Stephanie will guide CMBF in its efforts to support underserved populations, most notably through the “Lawyers Giving Back” public outreach and pro bono legal services programs.
“I am honored to lead the charitable fundraising arm of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, to positively impact our community,” said Stephanie. “For the past several years I have worked alongside my Association colleagues to expand our philanthropic reach and accelerate our fundraising initiatives, and I look forward to advancing this mission as the group’s President.”
Stephanie is a longstanding active member and leader of the CMBA, having served on its Board of Trustees and as a section chair. For the past four years, she has co-chaired CMBF’s “Rock the Foundation” event which is the organization’s most significant annual fundraiser. Stephanie’s commitment to community service runs deep, as she is also a volunteer for the Legal Aid Brief Advice Clinic, a judge for the Ohio High School Mock Trial Competition, a judge for the American Mock Trial Association, and Cleveland Regional Undergraduate Mock Trial Tournament.
“Beyond Stephanie’s many accomplishments as an attorney, she is a transformational leader whose passion for and dedication to improving the world around her inspires those who have the good fortune to know her,” said Rebecca McMahon, Executive Director of the CMBA and CMBF.
The CMBF supports a variety of critical outreach programs organized primarily under the Justice For All and Diversity & Inclusion umbrellas of the CMBA. These wide-ranging and innovative programs currently include: The 3Rs – Rights, Responsibilities, Realities; Cleveland Homeless Legal Assistance Program; Cleveland Mock Trial and Ohio Mock Trial Competitions; Pro Se Divorce Clinics; Reach Out Pro Bono for Nonprofits; Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts; Law Day; Louis Stokes Scholars Program; and Stephanie Tubbs Jones Summer Legal Academy.
Recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® and designated one of the Top 50 Women Attorneys in Ohio and Top 25 Women Attorneys in Cleveland on the Ohio Super Lawyers list, Stephanie is a Board-Certified Specialist in employment and labor law. She is a board member of the Ohio State Bar Association’s Specialty Certification Board which handles the credentialing process for attorneys applying for certification as a specialist in employment and labor law. She also serves as Vice Chair of the Employment Law Section of the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys.
