August 18, 2021 – Ulmer & Berne LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Zachary D. Bahorik to the firm’s Cincinnati office where he joins as a Partner in the Business Law Practice Group. An experienced private equity and venture capital attorney, Bahorik has more than a decade of experience serving businesses and individuals with a wide array of legal issues.
Bahorik assists clients of all sizes including venture-backed and growth stage companies, investors and investment funds, and established businesses. He is highly involved in the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Greater Cincinnati, and represents founders and companies at all stages, from initial concept to exit. He has special experience with capital raises, fund management, business formation, operations, financing, and transactions. He advises business owners and executives on planning for the long-term growth and eventual succession or acquisition of their businesses, and also has experience counseling companies through commercial disputes.
“We are excited to have Zach join us and be part of the continuing expansion of our Cincinnati business practice,” said Howard Groedel, Chair of Ulmer’s Business Department. “Zach has already established himself as one of Ohio’s go-to lawyers for entrepreneurs and emerging companies, and his broad skill set will be an asset to our private equity, venture capital, and startup clients.”
Skilled at handling investment funds for early stage tech companies, Bahorik formed and counseled an investment fund that made capital investments in more than 40 early stage tech companies. He has also worked closely with OCEAN, a high-tech startup accelerator, and served as the fund manager of its dedicated investment fund. In that role, he raised and operated three investment funds to support OCEAN’s participants and provided assistance to portfolio companies with financing, governance, and growth after their graduation from the program.
Bahorik is a longtime volunteer for Legal Aid of Greater Cincinnati and is a Pro Bono Attorney for the Volunteer Lawyers Project. Admitted to practice in both Ohio and Kentucky, he is a member of the Ohio State, Cincinnati, and Kentucky Bar Associations.
