Ulmer & Berne LLP is proud to announce the addition of Partner David A. Landman to the firm’s Business Litigation Practice Group. Landman, an experienced attorney who focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, divides his time between Ulmer’s New York and Cleveland offices.
“We are thrilled to have an exceptionally talented litigator like David join our team at Ulmer,” said Scott P. Kadish, Managing Partner. “His wide-ranging experience, from business and securities to intellectual property litigation and more, adds to the expertise of our nationally recognized Litigation Department.”
Landman represents clients in federal and state courts, both at the trial and appellate level, as well as in a variety of dispute resolution forums. His experience includes business and securities litigation, accounting malpractice defense, false advertising and counterfeit Lanham Act cases, international investigations, director and officer liability defense, and First Amendment matters. He has significant experience handling class action cases, including representing defendants in consumer, deceptive trade practice, and securities class actions. Landman also represents numerous private equity, real estate, and financial services clients in various transactions and acquisitions.
“David is a respected litigator who will use his strengths to provide our clients with the practical, meaningful legal strategies they need to succeed,” said Michael N. Ungar, Chair of Ulmer’s Litigation Department. “We’re very pleased to have him join our Litigation Department to help our clients efficiently and effectively achieve their goals.”
Recognized for his talent and skill, Landman has been named to the Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Stars list, and named to The Best Lawyers in America© for Commercial Litigation every year since 2017. He received his undergraduate degree with honors from Binghamton University, and his law degree with honors from Fordham University School of Law.
“We’re excited for David to use his broad skill set in helping our clients navigate their critical business disputes,” said Paul R. Harris, Group Leader of Ulmer’s Business Litigation Practice Group. “Having him in Ulmer’s ranks of dynamic litigators will be an asset to our business clients.”
With more than 100 highly skilled attorneys, Ulmer’s Litigation Department is comprised of first-chair, courtroom tested trial attorneys who focus on delivering top-tier service to help clients achieve their best results. In addition to class actions, complex commercial, financial, intellectual property, mass torts, and regulatory proceedings, Ulmer regularly represents clients in internal investigations, white collar matters, bankruptcies, and ADR proceedings.
Landman’s addition to the firm follows Ulmer’s recent combination with nationally known trial boutique Kaufman & Company, growing its deep bench of attorneys who appear in state and federal trial and appellate courts across the country. Ulmer was also recently named the 2020 “Ohio Firm of the Year” by Benchmark Litigation, earning this notable designation for the fourth year in a row and the fifth time in the last seven years.
