January 10, 2023 – Ulmer & Berne LLP is pleased to announce that Associate Sachin V. Java has been elected as President of the Asian American Bar Association of Ohio. Java will continue to serve as a member of the organization’s Board of Trustees, and previously served as President-Elect.
The Asian American Bar Association of Ohio is the oldest association of Asian Pacific American attorneys in Ohio, established in 1992. The organization strives to foster a high level of professional achievement, participation, and responsiveness among its members in legal and law-related fields; to encourage the active participation of members in the greater community; to support the professional growth and advancement of members; and to promote awareness of the issues and concerns facing the Asian Pacific American legal community and the Asian Pacific American community-at-large. The organization is the local affiliate of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, which is the nation’s largest Asian Pacific American membership organization representing the interest of 60,000 attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students.
Java focuses his practice on corporate law matters including mergers and acquisitions, banking and commercial finance, and general business counseling. He assists clients of all sizes in structuring and negotiating joint ventures, acquisitions, and divestures, as well as advising on corporate formation, governance, compliance, and commercial contracts. In addition, he represents borrowers on acquisition financing, refinancing, and asset based, cash flow, agented, and syndicated loan transactions. With his extensive health care operational background, Sachin regularly works with clients in that industry, including long-term care providers, behavioral health facilities, and other health care entities.
Outside of his practice, Java is a member of the Mergers and Acquisition Committee and Business Law Fellows Committee for the American Bar Association, the Ethics and Professionalism Committee and Council on Conscious Inclusion for the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Board of Directors for the Cleveland Animal Protective League. He also serves as an Alumni Mentor for the Cleveland State University College of Law Alumni Association Mentor Program. In addition, Java is a member of the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee for the firm.
Recognized for his professional achievements, Java was selected as a Crain’s Cleveland Business Forty Under 40 honoree, an ABA Business Law Fellow, and named to the Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Stars, Lawyers of Color Hot List and The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch list.
