Patricia A. Shlonsky has been appointed President of the Cuyahoga County Public Library Board of Trustees. Shlonsky, a voracious reader and a champion of public libraries, is in the midst of a seven-year term on the Board of Trustees. Shlonsky currently serves as the Partner-in-Charge of the Cleveland office of Ulmer & Berne LLP, where she also chairs the firm’s Employee Benefits and Tax Practice Groups.
Shlonsky’s passion for the transformative power of reading aligns ideally with her leadership position at the Cuyahoga County Public Library, one of the most respected library systems in the country. A passionate reader and literary commentator, she manages a popular book blog – www.frombriefstobooks.com – in which she reviews a broad array of literary fiction and, occasionally, nonfiction.
“We are delighted to have Patty step into the role of President of the Cuyahoga County Public Library Board of Trustees,” said the Library’s Executive Chairman, Sari Feldman. “She’s a respected leader, avid reader and long-time library advocate. Her strategic insight will undoubtedly serve the Library and residents of Cuyahoga County well.”
Shlonsky began her two-year term as Board President on January 23, 2018, at an exciting time for the Cuyahoga County Public Library. Enthusiasm and awareness have been growing for the One Community Reads program, a collaboration among the City Club of Cleveland, Playhouse Square, and all nine local public library systems to create a shared reading experience for the Greater Cleveland community.
“I am excited to assume this leadership role on the Cuyahoga County Public Library Board of Trustees,” Shlonsky said. “The Library provides critical community services in the areas of education, literacy, workforce development, children’s and adult services and more, and I am proud to be a part of this amazing institution as it continuously works to improve the communities in which we live.”
Shlonsky received her B.A. from Miami University and her J.D., with honors, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
