April 12, 2023 – Ulmer & Berne LLP is pleased to announce that David W. Leopold, Partner and Group Leader of the firm’s Immigration Law Practice Group, has been named to the 2023 National Law Journal Immigration Trailblazers List.
A litigator and recognized leader in the field of immigration law and policy, Leopold champions positive change using the judicial process. His diverse immigration practice focuses on employment- and family-based immigration, the defense of employers charged with I-9 employment verification and H-1B and H-2A compliance violations, complex removal defense cases including administrative trials and appeals and federal court litigation. As a former member of the Biden-Harris Homeland Security Working Group, he provided counsel to the incoming administration on business immigration and border security issues.

He is an active member and former president and general counsel of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and a member of the Ohio State Bar Association. A nationally recognized immigration reform advocate, writer, and public speaker, Leopold has provided expert testimony to the U.S. Congress and is relied upon by major media outlets for his analysis of cutting-edge immigration issues. He frequently appears in major media outlets including CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and Politico.
