Kathryn E. Hickner Elected to The McGregor Foundation Board of Directors

Ulmer & Berne LLP announces that Cleveland-based Counsel Kathryn E. Hickner, Co-Chair of Ulmer & Berne’s Health Care Practice, has been elected to the Board of Directors of The McGregor Foundation.

Hickner’s experience advising clients on a wide range of health care matters affords her the depth of knowledge and breadth of experience necessary to help her clients stay ahead of the curve in a quickly changing, highly complex industry. Her experience extends into nearly all areas of health care law, but she specializes in transactional matters and compliance with federal and state health care regulations, including federal Stark and state self-referral laws, federal and state anti-kickback laws, HIPAA and state privacy laws, and federal tax exempt laws. Hickner’s clients include physician groups, hospitals, large health systems, accountable care organizations (ACOs), home health agencies, nursing homes, ambulatory surgery centers, and other ancillary service providers. She regularly publishes articles and gives presentations throughout the country regarding laws that impact the health care industry.

Hickner earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan and her J.D., magna cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School.

The McGregor Foundation, established in 2002 as a private grant-making foundation, evolved from a history of more than 125 years of providing distinguished care for seniors at the A. M. McGregor Home in East Cleveland and the Amasa Stone House in the Glenville neighborhood of Cleveland. The McGregor Foundation supports the needs of the economically disadvantaged and frail elderly in the areas of home and community based care, workforce development, and total quality of life programming for seniors in all settings.
