The City Club of Cleveland recently announced that Patricia A. Shlonsky, partner-in-charge of Ulmer & Berne’s Cleveland office, has been appointed to their Board of Directors.
“As soon as Patty became a City Club member, she jumped in and started making a difference,” said Dan Moulthrop, CEO, The City Club of Cleveland. “When people do that, we notice and we want to empower them. We’re so glad to have a leader like Patty join the other civic-minded professionals who make our board so strong.”
Most notably, Patty recently conceived and launched a City Club Book Club. In its first meeting this week, the group assembled at the City Club to discuss James Foreman’s book, “Locking Up Our Own: Crime and Punishment in Black America.”
As partner-in-charge, Patty oversees Ulmer’s Cleveland office development, client service, business, and operations efforts. Additionally, she serves on the firm’s Management and Compensation committees, and chairs the Employee Benefits and Tax Practice groups.
Outside of Ulmer & Berne, Patty is active in the Greater Cleveland community, where she is the vice president of the Cuyahoga County Public Library Board of Trustees and chairs the Board’s Finance Committee. She serves as the vice chair of the Board of Directors and chair of the Policy and Program Advisory Committee for the Center for Community Solutions, and is a board member of BVU: The Center for Nonprofit Excellence.

Patty is ranked as one of Ohio’s leading Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation lawyers by Chambers USA and was recently named “Lawyer of the Year” in Cleveland by Best Lawyers in America® in Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law. She has also been recognized by Ohio Super Lawyers in the Top 50 Female Lawyers in Ohio and in the Top 25 Female Lawyers in Cleveland. Additionally, Patty will be honored by Crain’s Cleveland Business as a “Woman of Note” for 2017.
Patty earned her Bachelor of Arts from Miami University, her Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, and is a member of Leadership Cleveland, Class of 2012.
