Andrea focuses her practice on school law, representing public boards of education in all areas related to school law, including but not limited to employee disciplinary concerns and contract issues, social media issues, student-related disciplinary matters, collective bargaining agreements, residency and custody disputes, the drafting and implementation of board of education policies, public records requests and associated matters, and discrimination concerns.
Andrea has extensive experience providing training for administrators and staff in these issues, with a particular focus in special education related matters and student discipline issues. In special education, she provides representation in the provision of educational programming and services to disabled students, defending placement and programming decisions, counseling clients relative to disciplinary and other issues impacting disabled students. Andrea’s representation of boards of education has included attendance at MFE and IEP meetings, assisting districts with child find and evaluation issues, providing counsel regarding programming for students with disabilities, and reviewing draft IEPs for legal compliance. She also represents school districts in matters before the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights and the Ohio Department of Education in matters involving special education students, and assists clients in all such related litigation.
