Paul R. Dehmel

Counsel

With more than 20 years of experience in litigation, Paul has second-chair trial and first-chair arbitration experience serving as a lead counsel in state and federal courts. Paul has successfully overseen and managed numerous complex commercial litigations from the beginning to the end. Paul is an experienced appellate practitioner. He has also assisted with the resolution of cases through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, such as arbitration and mediation.

Over the course of his career, Paul has represented clients in various business disputes, defended investigations and FINRA inquiries, and investigated and assisted with the defense of white-collar criminal proceedings against senior corporate executives. Paul has also successfully briefed and argued dispositive motions that have brought prompt resolutions to numerous disputes in federal and state courts. Paul previously practiced at other law firms in New York and Connecticut, including Paul Hastings and AmLaw 200 and boutique law firms.

Experience

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

 

  • Representing a company owned by two New York residents in litigation initiated in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. ┬áThe complaint accuses a large telecommunications company of breach of contract and continual trespass including damage to their Manhattan townhouse and endangering their lives through the dismantling and installing of cell tower equipment over the course of eight years. The plaintiffs seek equipment removal, injunctive relief, monetary damages, and punitive or exemplary damages for no less than $2 million.
  • Defended a majority member of an LLC against claims by the minority member alleging fraud, misrepresentation, and corporate usurpation.
  • Defended a purchaser of a large area of commercial real estate brought by the seller alleging fraud and misrepresentation.
  • Prosecuted and defended numerous breaches of non-compete clauses.
  • Defended investigations and other inquiries by FINRA.
  • Investigated and assisted with the defense of white-collar criminal proceedings against senior corporate executives.
  • Defended a major petroleum distributor from claims that a nearby explosion was caused by an escaped product.
  • Successfully briefed and argued dispositive motions that brought prompt resolutions to numerous disputes in state and federal courts.
