Mary C. Hofmann

Staff Attorney

With a background in environmental engineering, Mary focuses her practice on a broad range of environmental matters including regulatory counseling, due diligence, and enforcement defense. Her environmental practice encompasses the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA, and other environmental laws and regulations. She also assists clients on a variety of real estate and construction matters such as drafting transactional documents, conducting research, and preparing comprehensive memoranda.

  • Assists with all aspects of the due diligence process in real estate transactions, including environmental due diligence.
  • Conducts legal research and prepares memoranda on a range of topics, including real estate, environmental, and energy law.
  • Assists with transactions involving the acquisition, disposition, and development of commercial property.
  • Counsels clients on remediation of hazardous substances and underground storage tanks (USTs).
  • Analyzed legal issues for client with significant Superfund liability.
  • Defended manufacturing client against alleged hazardous waste violations.
  • Advised client on environmental due diligence associated with historic tax credit project sites.
  • Served as an intern with Marathon Petroleum Corporation where she completed research and drafted briefs on various environmental law issues.
  • Served as an intern with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where she worked with the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance’s Office of Civil Enforcement, Water Enforcement Division.
