Bruce retired in 2016 after almost 41 years with Ulmer. Former Chair of the firm’s Toxic Tort Defense Group, Bruce defended all types of industrial exposure cases in State and Federal Courts. He also handled a range of product liability matters, major bodily injury cases from both a plaintiff and defense perspective, and represented owners, architects, and contractors in construction litigation cases. Bruce has also been and remains a sought after mediator, having successfully mediated a myriad of tort, commercial, contract, and real estate cases for many years.

Toxic Tort Defense

  • Defended all types of industrial and chemical exposure cases.
  • Administered and defended numerous asbestos and silica claims on behalf of approximately forty clients in both Federal and State Courts for over 25 years.
  • Served as National Counsel for many asbestos and silica clients.


  • Has over 30 years of construction litigation experience.
  • Represented numerous parties including owners, architects, general and sub-contractors, and structural engineers in construction-related disputes involving roofs, masonry, interior walls, engineering/architectural design, geotechnical, and delay issues.
  • Successfully defended structural engineer in building failure case in longest civil trial in Cuyahoga County (four months).


  • Has mediated, for over 25 years, numerous complex business, real estate, insurance, construction-related, sexual harassment, and tort disputes for third parties after being appointed by Court and/or requested by counsel.


  • Has over 30 years of experience in major business litigation matters including breach of contract lawsuits, alleged fraudulent sale claims, etc.

Bodily Injury/Product Liability

  • Has 40 years of experience in handling bodily injury claims for both plaintiffs and defendants including defending product liability claims arising out of a variety of residential and industrial products (presses, lawn mowers, snow-blowers, etc.).
