CHICAGO (March 12, 2010) — Ulmer & Berne LLP announced today that two partners in its Chicago office, Scott A. Meyers and David W. Porteous, have been named to the 2010 Leading Lawyers Network in Illinois.

This list is compiled from thousands of surveys sent to Illinois attorneys asking them which of their peers they believe to be the State’s top lawyers. Only those lawyers who are most often recommended qualify as Leading Lawyers.  Both Scott and David were recognized for their commercial litigation and securities and venture finance law practices.

With almost 20 years of legal experience, Scott Meyers’ practice concentrates on complex civil litigation and arbitration, regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings, internal investigations, and employment disputes in the securities and financial services industries, with a particular emphasis on hedge funds, investment advisers, and broker-dealers. Scott has successfully litigated a number of high-profile securities fraud cases, and he is currently representing several domestic and international hedge funds in a number of significant litigation matters involving mortgage-backed securities fraud, accountant liability, portfolio allocation fraud, and margin liquidation issues.  He received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.S., cum laude, from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

David Porteous has more than 17 years of experience working for and representing clients in the financial services and securities industries in litigation, arbitration, enforcement proceedings and investigations, as well as counseling clients on compliance matters. He has represented a variety of institutions in the securities and commodities futures markets, including broker-dealers, clearing firms, hedge funds, commodity pools, public companies and their committees, directors, officers, and other senior managers.  He received his J.D., cum laude, from Tulane University Law School and his B.A., with honors, from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
