CLEVELAND (March 5, 2010) — Michael N. Ungar, Chair of Ulmer & Berne LLP’s Litigation Department, will speak at the 58th Annual Securities Industry Institute presented by The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.  The program runs March 8-12, 2010 in Philadelphia, PA. 

Mr. Ungar will be a presenter of “A Mock Arbitration: as Close as You Want to Get.”  The program will provide an insider’s view of the securities arbitration process and strategies to prevent the disputes that lead to claims.  This is the sixth year in a row that Mr. Ungar has been invited to speak at this program. 

Founded in 1953, the Securities Industry Institute is one of the longest running executive education programs for the financial services industry.  The mission of the Securities Industry Institute is to equip each participant with practical information, ideas and answers directly applicable to their present and future responsibilities.  Created by Wharton and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), this intensive program provides compliance, legal and regulatory professionals with a thorough understanding of the foundation, theory and practical application of securities laws and regulation. Participants will gain knowledge of the complexities of compliance issues. Graduates of the program earn the Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional (CRCP) designation. 

As an attorney with Ulmer & Berne, Mr. Ungar currently serves as Chair of the Firm's Litigation Department and President-Elect of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.  For two years in a row, he was recognized by his peers as one of the Top 10 attorneys in Ohio.  His national business litigation practice encompasses a broad range of general business disputes, with a focus on commercial, banking, securities and broker-dealer matters, including arbitrations, class actions and other types of complex litigation.  Mr. Ungar also frequently serves as a mediator and arbitrator in business disputes.  He received both his J.D., and his B.A., cum laude, from Boston University.
