CINCINNATI (December 23, 2009) — John M. Hands, a partner with Ulmer & Berne LLP in Cincinnati, Ohio was elected President of the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys (OACTA) at its annual meeting held on November 12, 2009.  OACTA is a state-wide organization of over 650 attorneys who routinely represent the interests of parties sued in civil lawsuits, including individuals, businesses, governmental entities and organizations.  John previously served as Vice President of OACTA. 

As an attorney with Ulmer & Berne, John’s practice focuses on business litigation, contract and commercial litigation, product liability litigation, construction law, architect/engineer defense and general liability defense.  He is admitted to practice in Ohio, Kentucky and numerous federal district and appellate courts.  He is a member of the Defense Research Institute, a Fellow of the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers, and a graduate of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.  John has been named an “Ohio Super Lawyer” by Law & Politics and Cincinnati magazines.  He is also listed among the top attorneys in business litigation in “Super Lawyers,” Corporate Counsel Edition.  He received his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and his B.A. from Miami University.
