CLEVELAND (April 17, 2012) — Ulmer & Berne LLP announced today that Richik Sarkar, a partner in its Financial Services & Securities Litigation Practice Group, has been appointed the Vice President of the Board of Trustees for the Cuyahoga County Community Improvement Corporation. The Corporation is an organization committed to advancing, encouraging and promoting industrial, economic, commercial and civic development in Cuyahoga County.
Mr. Sarkar has been involved with this organization since May 2011 when he was appointed one of 11 Trustees charged with serving as Cuyahoga County’s review agent for industrial revenue bond financing. He was originally appointed to the Board of Trustees by the Greater Cleveland Partnership, which along with the County Commissioners possesses the authority to appoint leadership to the Cuyahoga County Community Improvement Corporation.
Mr. Sarkar focuses his practice on business and commercial litigation, complex and class action litigation and public law with significant experience in the areas of business torts, contracts, corporate governance, securities and finance, commercial and consumer financial services, real estate and real property taxation. He is on the Board of Trustees for the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, is active with the ABA Business Law Section and serves on the Membership Impact Committee for the Greater Cleveland Partnership's Commission on Economic Inclusion, the board of The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio, the WKSU Community Advisory Council, and the Rainey Institute Board of Managers. Mr. Sarkar was named to the 2012 Ohio Super Lawyers list and was recognized as a “Rising Star” by Law & Politics magazine from 2005-2007, and in 2009 and 2011.
Mr. Sarkar earned his B.A. with honors from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
