At a Glance Michael focuses his practice on supporting his clients’ business efforts through intellectual property counseling, licensing and litigation. His diverse career in intellectual property began when he was a patent examiner at the United States Patent & Trademark Office and has included two tenures in-house and over 10 years of law firm practice. Shortly after graduating law school Michael spent two years residing in Tokyo, Japan, as the first in-house U.S. patent counsel for Hitachi, Ltd. While in Japan, Michael was a member of Hitachi’s International Licensing Department participating in the negotiation and drafting of dozens of agreements. More recently, Michael spent two years as a senior patent counsel for a major multi-national medical device company. As a senior patent counsel, Michael managed all the intellectual property aspects of certain product lines from initial clearance to market through litigation. His law firm experience includes the litigation of numerous cases before the federal courts and the United States International Trade Commission.
