He has first chair experience in prosecuting and defending civil claims and in criminal prosecution. With his construction law expertise, he has represented owners, subcontractors and contractors in public and private construction and in breach of contract, mechanics’ liens and warranty disputes. Kurt’s experience includes representing businesses in litigation involving claims of harassment, retaliatory discharge and discrimination.

Representative Experience

Toxic Tort Defense

  • Extensive experience in the defense of maritime and land-based asbestos and silica personal injury claims on behalf of approximately 40 clients in both the U.S. District Courts, U.S. Courts of Appeals and the trial and appellate courts of the State of Ohio. Serves as liaison counsel on behalf of defense, including negotiation and contact with opposing counsel and court on case management issues.

Trial Practice and Experience

  • First chair experience in prosecuting and defending civil claims through all phases of civil litigation, including Appellate practice.
  • First chair bench and jury trial practice as a criminal prosecutor, representing law enforcement and various branches of state and local government through all phases of criminal litigation, including handling matters before the Appellate courts and the Supreme Court of the State of Ohio.

Construction

  • Experience in representing Owners, Sub-Contractors and Contractors in public and private construction and breach of contract, mechanics’ liens and warranty disputes.

  • Experience in representing businesses in litigation involving claims of harassment, retaliatory discharge and discrimination on the basis of race, age, sex, disability and other employment-related issues.
