Representative Experience
  • Advises clients regarding issues related to design, operation, implementation, amendment and termination of qualified retirement plans, as well as funded and unfunded welfare and fringe benefit plan.
  • Counsels administrators of pension, welfare, and fringe benefit plans regarding compliance with ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Has provided clients with guidance regarding fiduciary duty obligations and requirements under ERISA and the Code.
  • Advises clients regarding the internal claims administration procedures of their pension, health care and disability arrangements to ensure compliance with the claims review requirements of ERISA.
  • Has assisted clients in revising the claims administrative procedures of their plans and drafted plan language to include in plan documents and summary plan descriptions.
  • Counsels clients in employee benefit litigation, prepare various pleadings and filings related to lawsuits brought under the civil enforcement provisions of ERISA.
  • Counsels clients in numerous subrogation and reimbursement matters and have assisted in filing an amicus curiae brief with the Sixth Circuit and a petition for writ of certioriari to the U.S. Supreme Court regarding a reimbursement claim sought on behalf of a clients' health care arrangement.
  • Prepares IRS and DOL filings for qualified plans, including determination letter requests, EPCRS filings, form filings related to plan terminations, and other reporting and disclosure requirements.
  • Advises and assists clients regarding benefit issues related to mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations.
  • Has performed due diligence reviews of retirement plans, health and welfare arrangements and severance programs involved in mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations.
  • Advises clients regarding issues arising under COBRA, HIPAA, and EGTRRA.
